MUARA, Friday, 02 November 2018 – A closing ceremony for the Special-To-Service (STS) Course for the Midshipmen of Officer Cadet School (OCS) Intake 17 was held at Samudera Hall, Naval Training Center (NTC), Royal Brunei Navy (RBN) at Muara Naval Base. The Guest of Honour for the event was Commander Khairil Haji Abdul Rahman, RBN, the Commandant of Naval Training Center. Also in attendance were RBN officers, OCS officers and instructors, instructors of NTC and Royal Brunei Technical Services – Defense Council International (RBTS-DCI) staff.
The ceremony marked the end of the STS term for the midshipmen, the second term of OCS training programme, which commenced on the 13th of August 2018 until the 2nd of November 2018. The course was designed to equip the midshipmen on the basic discipline of seamanship, which included theory classes, touching on the basic sea navigation and also practical sessions for hands-on experiences for the midshipmen. Basic Sea Survival Course was also included in the course organised by MEGAMAS Training Company, Kuala Belait to prepare the midshipmen in case of any emergencies at sea, should it occur. The objective of the course was for the midshipmen to foretaste the duties and responsibilities of a RBN officer.
The recitation of do’a to bless the ceremony was recited by 52545 MID Muhammad Amirul Shahdani bin Jasni, RBN followed by a speech from the Head of Training DCI, Mr. Florent Lagny. Another speech was then given by 52513 MID Ahmad Muaadz bin Haji Razak, RBN, a representative of the course participants, to share his reflections and takeaways throughout the course. It was then followed by certificate presentation to the course participants by the Guest of Honour.
The closing ceremony ended with a recitation of do’a and a group photo session with all of the participants and guests presents.
