RBTS and STK ink MoU deal for vehicle upkeep

The Royal Brunei Technical Services (RBTS) signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Singapore Technologies Kinetics (STK) yesterday in a bid to improve its work processes within the organisation and its Vehicle Maintenance Centre (VMC), a media release said yesterday.

The signing, when took place during the ongoing Singapore Airshow 2008, will see STK provide RBTS with assistance in obtaining quality qualifications, such as the International Organisation for Standardisation’s ISO9000.
 
“With already two contracts on hand, RBTS intends to further enhance in particular its VMC, to work towards obtaining quality qualifications required for its operations, in order to undertake greather responsibilities to conduct MRO, not only for the Royal Brunei Police Force and the Brunei Fire and Rescue Department,” an STK representative said during the MoU signing.

RBTS is also seeking assistance from STK in organisational and capability development in order to achieve expanded fleet management capabilities, RBTS stated.

For more than a decade, STK had been supplying ammunition and pyrotechnics, as well as the SAR21 assaulkt rifle to RBTS for use by the Royal Brunei Armed Forces.

The government-owned procurement agency is currently participating in the airshow to promote the next instalment of the Brunei International Defence Exhibition Defence Exhibition (Bridex) slated for August 11 next year.

RBTS Chief Executive Lt Colonel (Rtd) Hj Amir Hamzah Hj Hanafi and RBTS Deputy Chief Executive Hjh Rosmawati Hj Manaf signed on behalf of RBTS, while STK president Sew Chee Jhuen and Senior Vice President of the Total Support and Services Division of STK, Alex Teo, signed the MoU on behalf of Kinetics. The Chairman of RBTS, Dato Paduka Haji Mustappa, witnessed the ceremony.

The six-day Bridex 2009 exhibition will take place at the Empire Hotel & Country Club and will feature about 15,000 sq metres of exhibition area, both indoors and outdoors.

Bridex 2009 is expected to bring together some 250 defence and security international companies to unveil and show case their latest, innovative and value-enhancing technology solutions in land, sea and air systems. High level international delegations of defence and security influencers as well as decision-makers are expected to attend the exhibition, which will feature displays, demonstrations and conferences.

Established in 1988, RBTS procures equipment and systems for defence and security organisations as well as other government organisations, it also provides support services ranging from spares supply, maintenance and modification, repair and overhaul.
