OFFICIALS of the Royal Brunei Technical Services (RBTS) and the Ministry of Defence will participate in the Defence Services Asia Conference and Exhibition (DSA 2008) in Kuala Lumpur next week.

Bruneian government officials will take the opportunity to promote their own Bridex 2009 by holding a reception at the sidelines of the event at the Putra World Trade Centre.

The reception will provide delegates with information on Bridex 2009 while at the same time enabling delegates and guests to network in a relaxed and casual atmosphere in line with the "unique experience in defence business facilitation" that Bridex 2009 aims to provide, RBTS said in a statement.

RBTS will be among more than 180 exhibitors from 20 countries at DSA 2008.

RBTS, the appointed organiser for Bridex 2009, with the support of the Ministry of Defence, has been hard at work on promoting the upcoming Bridex 2009 to regional and international exhibitors and delegates.

In February this year, RBTS participated in the Singapore Airshow to promote both Brunei's defence industry as well as Bridex 2009. It signed a memorandum of understanding with ST Kinetics to formally allow both parties to work together in the field of vehicle maintenance, with RBTS tapping into ST Kinetics expertise.

Bridex 2009, an integrated tri-service defence and security exhibition, is set to take place from 11 to 15 August 2009 at The Empire Hotel & Country Club.

It aims to gather 250 defence and security companies worldwide.

It will allow companies to unveil and showcase their latest, most innovative and value-enhancing technology solutions in land, naval and aerospace systems.

Among confirmed participants are the UK Trade and Investment Defence and Security Organisation (UKTI DSO) and BAE Systems, the world's third-largest aerospace and defence company.

Other companies which have shown interest are ST Engineering, Harris Corporation, Raytheon, Northrop Grumman and Thales.

High-level international delegations of defence and decision makers, such as ministers, chief of defence forces and senior officers from the military, police, security forces, and law and enforcement agencies are expected to be among the attendees of Bridex 2009, RBTS said in a statement.
