BANDAR SERI BEGAWAN, Wednesday, July 10, 2019 – The participants of the Officer Under Training Course (OUTC) Intake 17 of 2019, Royal Brunei Navy (RBN), together with the Royal Brunei Technical Services (RBTS) instructors and Naval Training Center (NTC) paid a visit to the Survey Department of the Ministry of Development, the Brunei Darussalam Meteorological Department (BDMD) of the Ministry of Communications and the Judge Advocate General’s Office (JAG).
During the visit to the Survey Department, the RBTS and NTC instructors, as well as the OUTC officers received a warm welcome by the Acting Deputy Surveyor General, Pg Hjh Hasnalyati bin Pg Hj Mukmin and officers from the Survey Department. The Head of the Hydrographic Department; Abd Malik bin Hj Abd Hamid gave a presentation regarding their work scope and roles and how their researches can benefit the RBN, especially in terms of navigating in Brunei waters. The visit ended with a tour around the Hydrographic Department and Geospatial Mapping Section. The visit to BDMD was insightful, as presentation on how atmospheric data recollection around Brunei helps to generate a present and future weather forecasts, which was given by BDMD officer, Marzeti binti Hj Mahadi.
Following the visit to the JAG office, 1069 Kpt Adibah binti Hj Mohamed gave a brief introduction and presentation of the roles and responsibilities of every RBAF personnel regarding basic legal knowledge of the military. The OUTC officers also had the chance to tour JAG and learned new information regarding military and civilian laws and the significance of the unit.
Throughout the two-day visit, the OUTC officers were able to broaden their knowledge from each department they visited and how each department played a part in contributing towards the RBN.
